We will be in Europe for about five weeks in Sept. & Oct. Is there any way to avoid those additional fees (usually 3%) charged by credit card companies each time I use my card?

Answer:

Well, usually, foreign exchange fees are fixed and cannot be cancelled. So, when you go abroad, you will inevitably be charged those 3% for exchaging the currency. But if you have a good or excellent credit history and a high credit score, you can think of applying for the American Express Blue Card which offers you only 2% of foreign exchange rate. Welcome to our site and look through the other credit cards presented which suggest a foreign exchange fee at as low a rate as 2% and save more money when travelling. If my credit is bad how can I get approved for a credit card ?

Answer:

You can get approved for a bad credit card. Some banks issue them to help people to rebuild their credit history. It is a rather high risk for a bank, so they will offer you not the best terms first. They will give you a credit limit of around $300 and higher interest rates. If you are a responsible cardholder and pay your bills on time, they will probably offer you better terms and raise your credit limit in several months. We recommend you to pay your attention to the bad credit deals by First PREMIER Bank. Apply online and improve your credit rating.

I have no credit history..which credit card do you recommend for me?

Answer:

You should start building your credit with choosing the right card. Among the banks that offer deals for no credit history there is First PREMIER. They help you to establish your credit history by sending information to credit bureaus. If you pay your bills on time and show responsible financial behaviour, in future you will be able to get a better card. We recommend Centennial Gold MasterCard/Visa Card. It has low APR on purchases and guaranteed approval. It's a perfect first step to building your credit rating.

i have no credit and would like to use a cosigner

Answer:

You can apply for a credit card with a co-signer. All good credit cards allow to co-sign for someone. But you can't apply with a co-signer online. This is how it works: a person with a good credit history (co-signer) applies online for any credit card for good credit. He gets approved, calls the bank and says he would like to add someone to his account. He has to tell Social Security Number of that person. Then the co-signer gets a statement by mail. Both of you should sign it and send back. You will be sharing an account and a credit limit with a co-signer. A person with bad credit will be building credit history by making on time payments, as his payment info will be sent to all credit bureaus every month.

Hi, I have a MasterCard (No Hassle Points Rewards from Cap One). I'm leaving for Canada – just wanna see the country. Do I need to get a Canadian credit card to use it in my trip instead of my current plastic?

Answer:

Thank you for contacting us, Audrey. Audrey, you do not have to change your credit card for another one. MasterCard credit cards are accepted all over the world. So, you do not have to worry that you will have problems with using your MasterCard in Canada. It's probably our Canadian credit cards section that misled you. We do offer Canadian deals at our site, but they are designed for Canada residents. So, you can take your MasterCard in your trip without any hesitation. No Hassle Points Rewards from Capital One is a good deal with a low interest rate. You even might be eligible to collect rewards points while staying in Canada. Just contact the bank to clear up this issue. Ask them if your purchases outside the US are eligible to collect rewards points.
